Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, delivered Saturday's luncheon address, on the Internet's upcoming decade of turmoil.

Artist-inventor and illustrator Steven M. Johnson delivered Sunday's luncheon address, on gazing at possible futures with recombinant versions of present ideas.

Sci-Fi Symposium

BrendaCooper.jpgWorldFuture 2014 hosted the first ever Science Fiction Futures Symposium. Authors, fans, and others in the sci-fi community came together to discuss how fiction can provide a vision of the future, and how it creates and is created by reality. Speakers included Ramez Naam, Brenda Cooper, Brad Aiken, and many others.

Special Events

Some of the many other special events included: the pre-conference Master Courses, Friday night's complimentary reception, Saturday night's author signing and poster presentations, and the Professional Members Forum on Monday.
