FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EDUCATIONAL ALLIANCE WITH GLOBAL SCHOOLNET
OFFERS GREAT PROMISE FOR WFS MEMBERS

BETHESDA, MD —The World Future Society is pleased and excited to announce a new strategic alliance with an education partner, Global SchoolNet Foundation. Global SchoolNet (GSN) is a nonprofit international network of more than 70,000 online educators dedicated to assisting young people to become literate and responsible global citizens.

GSN uses a variety of project-based approaches focusing on collaboration and community building and includes subject matter ranging from diplomacy (in partnership with the U.S. State Department) and geography to history and journalism. Now GSN will add foresight-related materials and learning activities, including a new education competition to challenge students to think about the future.

GSN will work closely with the World Future Society to develop a customized curriculum revolving around foresight-related issues. "GSN is thrilled to join forces with the WFS, in an effort to engage youth worldwide in future-oriented educational experiences," said Yvonne Marie Andres, Global SchoolNet president and co-founder.

WFS publications such as The Futurist magazine and Edward Cornish’s new book, Futuring: The Exploration of the Future offer valuable tools to introduce young people around the world to the techniques and practice of developing foresight. Global SchoolNet, in partnership with the World Future Society, will offer these publications as resources and high-quality training materials for teachers.
