Sample Codicil

The World Future Society needs financial support from members in order to improve the world’s ability to solve the great problems ahead. One way you can help is by leaving a bequest to the Society in your will. If you already have a will you can use the following codicil as a simple way to make an addition. The codicil should be attached to your will.

Here is a sample codicil to a properly executed will:

CODICIL TO WILL OF _______________________________________

I, _____________________________, residing and domiciled in the City of ____________________, County of ____________ and State of_____________, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do hereby make, ordain, publish and declare this addendum/codicil to my last will and testament.

I give, devise and bequeath, and direct my said Executors, as soon as convenient following my demise, and in any events within a period of two (2) years of my death, to set over and deliver unto the World Future Society, non-profit scientific and educational association incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia, assets which in the unqualified judgement of my executors shall have an aggregate value of ________________.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ____ day of _________, AD______.

The above and foregoing instrument was this ____ day of __________ (month), ________ (year), signed, sealed, published, and declared by said ___________________________ (name), testator, as and for an addendum to his/her Last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at his request, and in his/her presence, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
