Members Only Sections – How to Create Login Credentials
Welcome to the World Future Society’s website! Our mission is to provide the best thinking, resources, and information about the major trends shaping the future and the practice of foresight. Certain areas of our site are accessible to members only as a key benefit of membership in the Society. To reach this material, you will first need to join WFS.
Members, please follow these directions to create login credentials. If you need help creating login credentials, please contact Jeff Cornish at jcornish@wfs.org.
How to Log in as a Member
First, you’ll need a recent copy of THE FUTURIST with the mailing label addressed to you. This is where you’ll find your membership number. Your membership number is your default username.
Take a look at the number closely. To log in, enter the first seven digits into the field called “username.”
Here’s the tricky part, don’t enter any zeros that appear before the first non-zero digit. These are for mail routing and have nothing to do with your membership number.
For instance, if you look to the mailing label on your copy of THE FUTURIST and you see:
0012340
Then the number you will enter in the field “username” is 12340 without the leading zeros.
Next you’ll have to enter your password. Your password is your last name. (Correct, your password is your name and your username is a number. The irony of this hasn’t escaped us either.) Your password is case sensitive so you’ll want to capitalize anything that should be capitalized as it appears in the WFS database. For most members this is initial cap and lower case (e.g. Cornish). FUTURIST labels are all caps, so will not show the correct capitalization. You may need to add a suffix (Cornish Jr). Please email jcornish@wfs.org if it doesn’t work for you.
Once you’re logged in, you can set your Display Name and password to your choice.
You will still need your WFS ID as your user name. But once you pick your display name, that name will be what appears when you post comments, etc.
Again, please mail specific questions to jcornish@wfs.org.
We also hope you’ll log in to share your thoughts about what’s working with this new site, what isn’t, and what you would most like to see. You can do that in the Forums section of the site after you’ve logged in.
Thanks for your interest in the World Future Society.
