VIVO: The Coming Age of Talking Computers
By William Crossman
Reviewed by: Clifton Coles

So what is new? Computers already talk. But please notice that Mr. Crossman wrote a book, which was to be read, he did not dictate it on a CD to be listened to. The reason is quite simple, we speak and hear at about 50 to 100 words per minute, whereas we read at about 500 to 1000 words per minute. Short commands such as "open the window" or "close the door" need not be written. However, don't expect VIVO (Voice-In/Voice-Out) to replace reading each and every issue of THE FUTURIST, its not going to happen.
