Education Summit-continuing the discussion
The past two days, I have spent most of my waking hours thinking about the Future of Education. I have spent 13+ hours listening and interacting with the hosts, speakers and participants who attended the new and improved and expanded Educational Forum that precedes the WFS Annual conference. I must say that on the whole the planners and presenters did their part and delivered what was promised and more.
My observation is that what happens next is mostly up to us, the participants.
I have been to many conferences in my 20 years as a community college researcher and Futurist and I do have to credit WFS with the ability to inspire transformational change following every conference I have attended. However, even I might have done better, if I kept up the dialogue, networked more, and/or stayed in touch with the colleagues I have attended past conferences with.
My question to the participants and non-participants of this historic forum is where do we go from here?
Although, not a futurist, Kenny Rogers sang that "the secret of surviving is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep", I think it is a fitting lyric for reflecting upon what we have heard and what we will do with it.
What are you keeping?
