RE: Robots with Consciousness
I was really surprised to see this subject heading your current Futurist Update. Perhaps the fact that there was a well-attended panel called "Dancing with Machines" just before the close of the WFS conference in San Francisco missed your notice. I was one of the speakers and pointed out in detail why the notion of artificial consciousness is pure fantasy, one that has been around for over thirty years among engineers and longer than that in fiction. So it is not only fantasy but not even news.
