RE: GLOBAL HURRICANES--FEWER BUT STRONGER
Your story on Hurricanes Strengthening is built on false data - purposefully only going back to 1970 to construct the data. Since data in available back to the 1930s please use the data from an additional 40 years and you find that the current intensity of storms is no more than those of period 30s, 40s, 50s. Our earth goes though cycles and is not repeating a previous weather pattern.

We count on you for a true perspective. Headlines from Time magazine that ran the same false story in order to sell magazines is not what we expect.

On 26 Sep the Director of the National Hurricane Center, Max Mayfield, said the intensity of the storms is not the result of global warming ... rather is part of a normal cycle ...

Please correct the facts for the benefit of all?

But this is not to say the earth is not warming because I think NASA and I have excellent data that shows that the earth is warming from a current temperature average of about 12 C to 22 C, as it has four times in the past 500 M years, without human assistance.

Please see the NASA paleoclimatology studies, "Earth's Fidgeting Climate" October 20, 2000, on Science at NASA, at http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2000/ast20oct_1.htm
