Prehistoric Needs Driving Tomorrow's Mobile Homes

Mobile homes usually aren't a part of futuristic images, but the Choices blog offers up seven this week and they're pretty. Some are real, others are concepts, but all offer the promise of womb-like protection coupled with high adventure. Just the sort of contradictory goals that we hope to resolve in the never-never land of tomorrow. Note how all use high-tech tools to get closer to nature, reflecting both our fear of — and desire to be in — the wild. Also how in many of the images, the house has the high ground. I recall at a speech at the NY Academy of Sciences, socioboliologist E.O. Wilson said that the most expensive homes in the world are high up, overlooking a plain dotted with trees near a river. He said those qualities described the African plains that humans evolved in, and asked if it was any wonder we crave those same things today. Check out the pics and post here.
