Future vacationing: The Last Resort promises solar-powered life on the high sea

A three to six meter sea level rise by the end of the century is looking increasingly likely, based on continuing IPCC projections. This raises a number of serious questions, including: how do we protect the Earth's biodiversity from the attendant habitat loss? And what happens to my beachfront condo?

"Living on water has to be rethought. This is why we propose a system focusing on movement and autarchy. As its name suggests, the project 'the last resort' follows the strategy of a last resort and tries to challenge known and familiar concepts," The designers write on their Web site. The overall design is intended as "a play on forms that, together with the swell, the wind and the water reflection results in an intense nature experience."
A cruising vessel for post-apocalyptic urban hipsters sounds like a sure-win; and the design itself is highly amusing. But by 2100 the term "intense nature experience" will likely refer to something else entirely.
