C-3  Futurist Writers Workshop
Thursday, July 8, 2010
9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

This intensive, interactive course will explore the unique challenges of writing for a future-oriented market, be it a client, a class, blog, book, or magazine.

The workshop will address what goes into a future-oriented story, how to write on specialized topics for a lay audience, integrating futuring and storytelling, and more.

The instructors will encourage participants to submit writing samples prior to the course for individual critique. During the workshop, participants will be given short writing assignments, samples of which will be evaluated by the class.

Who should attend: Professional futurists, writers and bloggers pursuing future-oriented subjects, and students interested in developing their writing skills.
What you’ll learn: Participants will get an insider’s view of the unique challenges of writing serious, future-oriented nonfiction, whether it is an article for a general-interest audience or a report for a specific client.
How this new knowledge can be applied: Professional futurists will improve their deliverables to their clients; future-oriented journalists and bloggers will improve both their readability and their credibility; and students will improve their ability to analyze information from a variety of sources and convey it to others in clear prose.
