C-10 Holacracy: A New Operating System for Organizations and Society
Thursday, July 8, 2010
9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.Holacracy itself is being applied in future-focused organizations of all types and sizes, including large public companies, small private organizations, nonprofits, and spiritual organizations. Articles about Holacracy have appeared in numerous publications, including in a prominent article in The Wall Street Journal, which received a front-page placement in the marketplace section. It is widely regarded as a next-generation approach to organization, well-suited to our current global environment and challenges.
Over the past two decades, dozens of thought-leaders have pointed the way to new capacities organizations must develop to thrive amidst our twenty-first-century challenges. These visionaries are highlighting the limits of conventional organization and leadership, and offering a glimpse of new possibilities available to us if we re able to make the leap. Yet it has proven difficult to sustain a whole-system transformation by simply applying isolated principles and practices within a conventional frame. To really achieve the promises of this emerging new paradigm, we need a fundamentally new operating system for our organizations, a core upgrade to the way we govern, manage, and execute work.
Holacracy is a complete and practical system for evolving our fundamental approach to organization and management. Its novel structure and processes integrate the collective wisdom of people throughout the company, while aligning the organization with a broader evolutionary purpose and a more organic way of operating. Holacracy takes the principles, ideas, and emerging worldview articulated by many modern thought-leaders and instills them in the actual structures and processes of the organization. It grounds them in practice and brings them to life, and the result is dramatically increased agility, transparency, innovation, and accountability
Who should attend: Anyone interested in cutting-edge approaches to organization or governance.
What you’ll learn: This workshop introduces the core principles and practices of Holacracy through both lecture and hands-on experiential simulations. Taken together, these practices offer a vertical leap to a new tier of organization, and attendees will leave with an experiential understanding of this potential next-step in the evolution of human organization and governance.
How this new knowledge can be applied: Participants will be able to immediately apply many of the principles and practices within their own teams or organizations to transform their approach to meetings, decision making, organization, and management.
